Grooming Day

Today was spent exercising, bathing, and clipping Buttercup.  That's right, clipping!  About a week before show time, most of the animals in the barn are trimmed in preparation for the show.  Buttercup did very well for her first (and most likely last) haircut.

Diet: What Diet?

Many people are trying to LOOSE weight in the new year, while we are trying to "beef up" Buttercup.  She is steadily gaining weight - about 10 pounds per week, which is good.

12/20/10     190 lbs
12/30/10     206 lbs

1/8/11         223 lbs.
1/13/11       233 lbs.

Artic Blast!

This is the news forecast from channel 13:

This arctic air-mass is not as severe as the cold spell that blew into Houston last January. Overnight low temperatures dropped well below freezing for four nights in a row between January 8-11, 2010. And the high temperatures were just barely above freezing.


I don't care if we beat 2010's record or not - COLD IS COLD!!!

Getting Ready for the Cold

Today was spent at the barn getting Buttercup's pen ready for the Artic Blast that is predicted to hit sometime this week.  Forecasters predict below freezing temperatures for extended periods of time, so it was time to plug in the heat lamp and "fluff up" her bedding after cleaning her pen.

Getting Ready for the Show

Well, it's the new year and that can only mean one thing - IT'S ALMOST SHOWTIME!  I spent the day over at my uncle's house working on my ag-mech. project, and man was it cold. He has more "toys" in his garage than Home Depot and Lowes put together, and for that I am thankful :)   My day was spent measuring, cutting, sanding, routing, assembling, drilling, sanding again, problem solving (lot's of that), and LEARNING... What a long day - thanks Jerry!
